Our Board of Trustees
Social Link has been able to grow and flourish not only due to the dedication of our team of employees, consultants and volunteers, but also because of the strategic and governance role fulfilled by our Board of Trustees.
Trustees are essential to the well-being and effectiveness of Social Link and are the charity’s guardians. Key tasks are assigned to Trustees according to capabilities and strengths whilst being able to direct strategy, provide financial oversight and ensure operation within the law.
Chris Thorn
Treasurer
Chris is an executive finance professional with over 25 years experience in various financial roles across many industries. As part of his current role as Chief Financial Officer at SUEZ Recycling and Recovery UK he has been focused on developing the organisations triple bottom line strategy including the implementation of environmental and social value projects.
Glynis Wiseman
Trustee / Events Team
Full of enthusiasm and ideas, Glynis is an asset to our board. She is very organised and has a great amount of empathy. As a result, Glynis is able to identify and offer potential solutions to issues facing adults with learning difficulties.

Claire Wheeler
Chair
Claire is a business psychologist, management consultant, coach and Fellow of Higher Education with more than 20 years of international experience in developing leaders and organisational performance. She is currently a company director and lecturer at the University of Herts on the MSc in Business and Occupational Psychology.

Linda Laurance
Trustee
With a former career specialising in governance, board/staff relations, facilitation, mediation and mentoring, Linda brings essential skills and knowledge to the Social Link board. Linda has a profound understanding of governance issues honed when she undertook consultant and training roles within a wide range of other organisations and bodies.

Janet Shuttlewood
Trustee / Events Team
Janet has been a familiar face at Social Link since its inception and has been a keen fundraiser on behalf of the charity. Her background in Human Resources enables Janet to provide insight on people management topics during planning sessions.
“It is a privilege to be part of Social Link’s exciting journey. From humble beginnings, this charity has developed and expanded to providing social and educational opportunities for over 100 adults with a learning disability… and we’re not finished yet as there are plans in the pipeline for more services to help even more people reach their potential!”
Craig Kaye
Trustee
Craig is a leadership consultant and executive coach who has over 20 years’ experience in learning and development. He is a passionate advocate of inclusion and works with leaders to ensure they can achieve outstanding performance from a diverse workforce.
Sarah Fox
Trustee
Sarah has a professional background in Project Management in the Retail, Telecoms & Food and Beverage sectors. But her involvement is not just about bringing skills learnt in the world of work to the Board. She wants to make a difference for those with a Learning Disability knowing how important this is through personal experience with her brother Michael who had Down Syndrome.
“I discovered Social Link when looking for a charity to support with a fundraiser in memory of my brother back in 2023. Michael’s legacy very much lives on in the fabulous work Social Link do for Adults with Learning Disabilities in Bucks. From its roots to the CEO, everyone I can see is pulling in the same direction to turn Disabilities into Abilities.”
